About The Position

Bring our games to life by creating eye-catching art for slot machines. Work with a group of exceptionally talented artists and animators creating game art that complements and enhances the slot player’s experience. The ability to work quickly and efficiently as part of a team, take direction, and maintain a positive attitude under pressure is crucial. Essential Job Functions: Be able to create an art vision that tells a story of the game in one picture. Works closely with the Art Director and the team to conceptualize, storyboard, prototype and ultimately create high quality final game art in a timely and efficient manner. Provides creative solutions to artistic and technical problems. Supports engineering development by updating and modifying artwork to meet technical requirements. Communicate game direction through thumbnails and storyboards. Revise, edit and modify sketches as needed, per director's notes. Create artwork for all aspects of slot machines, including game logos, symbols, backgrounds and other theme art. Maintain excellent art quality regarding design, layout, color theory, and typography. Collaborate with the game development team by providing art assets to the team’s animator and software engineer. Communicate with the game designer and development team in an iterative development process. Mentor junior game artists in related studios and throughout Game Development. Maintain well-organized working files to facilitate file sharing and collaborative work. Archive all final working files for future use using version control software. This is an hybrid role, 3 days a week in office based at our studio in Reno, Nevada. Relocation is provided for out of state candidates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in illustration (traditional or digital) and/or graphic design.
  • Proficient at creating unique emotive characters and immersive worlds.
  • Proficient at logo and interface design.
  • Proficient at graphic illustration and overall graphics creation.
  • Strong drawing skills, ability to visualize and design from abstract ideas.
  • Strong understanding of visual language - texture, color, dimension, scale, perspective, shade, composition depth of field, proportion, spatial awareness, etc.
  • Ability to work with a variety of different illustration styles.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Cross-functional interaction across a wide range of experience levels.
  • Ability to receive art direction and provide multiple design solutions.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

Nice To Haves

  • Gaming industry experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D animation, and familiarity with the principles of animation is preferred , but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of lighting, perspective, material finishes and special effects.
  • 3D modeling software experience is a plus (3ds Max, Maya, Blender, Houdini, Substance Painter, Zbrush or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with Unity a plus.
