About The Position

The Peer Recovery Specialist will provide part-time case management support to clients in the Problem Gambling Program across Norwalk, Stamford, and Bridgeport. The role focuses on promoting self-sufficiency and recovery from problem gambling through peer support and counseling.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; an Associate's degree in Human Services or related field is preferred.
  • Driver's License required.
  • Experience working with clients in recovery or knowledge of recovery processes.
  • Experience engaging and working with clinical personnel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare correspondence and other materials.
  • Proficient with computers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in addiction medicine or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Provides peer support, financial recovery counseling, and case management to promote recovery from problem gambling.
  • Introduces clients to and assists with adjustment to Gamblers Anonymous/Gam-Anon programs and other community supports.
  • Assists clients with the voluntary self-exclusion process.
  • Participates in professional training, outreach, and public education services as assigned, including appearances at conferences and workshops.
  • Documents clinical activities in client records as required.
  • Assists the Program Manager and clinical staff as directed.
  • Attends training pertinent to the position and the organization as a whole.
  • Demonstrates continued development of knowledge about the history, traditions, values, and family systems of the groups served, using appropriate methodological approaches and techniques that reflect cultural understanding.
  • Understands and adheres to compliance standards as per agency policies and procedures, completing all required training in a timely manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
