About The Position

The Gallery Support Specialist (Associate Projects Manager) at the National Gallery of Art is responsible for overseeing the development of academic programs within the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts. This role involves managing logistics for various scholarly gatherings, providing administrative support to the Associate Dean, and coordinating with multiple departments to ensure successful program execution.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service or private sector, coordinating administrative aspects of academic programs.
  • Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two years of progressively higher-level graduate education, or a combination of education and experience for GS-9.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service or private sector, reviewing scholarly publications for a museum or cultural institution for GS-11.
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three years of progressively higher-level graduate education, or a combination of education and experience for GS-11.

  • Experience in event planning and coordination within a cultural institution.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of academic programs including symposia, conferences, and workshops.
  • Provide administrative support to the Associate Dean for Academic Programs & Publications.
  • Manage relationships with scholars and program participants.
  • Coordinate pre-program logistics and planning, including announcements and registrations.
  • Track programmatic budget in consultation with Center Administrator.
  • Communicate with various National Gallery departments to ensure program needs are met.
  • Prepare travel and program schedules for speakers and participants.
  • Handle purchasing and travel arrangements for the Academic Programs & Publications department.
  • Manage the Seminar Papers series and process essays for publication.
  • Prepare contracts for speakers and event participants.
