About The Position

The Gallery Monitor plays a crucial part in campus gallery operations. In this role, Gallery Monitors will provide information to visitors, safeguard and monitor exhibited artwork and assist with a variety of gallery activities. Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students and the general public.
  • Must be reliable, punctual and able to follow through on assignments.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team.
  • Must be detail orientated.
  • Must have a general interest in Gallery Management.
  • Must be enrolled at Ringling College of Art and Design.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous customer service experience desirable.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience desirable
  • Social Media, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor gallery space to ensure safety and security of artworks.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the gallery space.
  • Greet and assist visitors, provide information about the exhibited artworks and artists.
  • Answer questions and engage with visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Assists in the preparation of exhibits; checks in faculty and student artwork.
  • Conducts research on artists and exhibitions.
  • Performs clerical duties such as typing, filing, taking messages and answering phones.
  • May assist with social media.
  • Other duties as assigned.
