Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Background in studio arts with knowledge of art materials and artistic processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Programs
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer service mindset with the ability to create a positive guest experience
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move artwork, supplies, or materials (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit Management - Plan and execute all aspects of main exhibits, including scheduling, coordinating with exhibiting organizations, managing promotional materials, and facilitating receptions.
  • Gallery Consignment & Artist Engagement - Coordinate local and regional artwork on consignment, including building relationships with artists, expanding gallery representation, managing artwork intake and installation, promoting pieces for sale, and maintaining a database of consigned work.
  • Workshop & Event Coordination - Plan, coordinate, and launch quarterly classes and workshops, including selecting instructors, preparing promotional materials, and facilitating events.
  • Retail Operations & Guest Experience - Select and manage product assortment, maintain appropriate inventory levels, ensure accurate pricing, and update the POS system as needed. Assist guests by providing product information and supporting the checkout process. Maintain a clean, welcoming, and well-presented facility for visitors.
  • Social Media Management - Oversee and maintain the gallery’s social media presence.
  • Community Partnerships & Giving - Partner with local organizations to increase visibility of the Richeson School of Art & Gallery. Manage and facilitate donations to requesting organizations when appropriate.
  • Product Development Support - Support the purchasing and new product development teams by testing art material samples and providing feedback, while collaborating to generate new ideas and address customer requests.
  • Artist Programs & Tradeshow Support - Create and present artwork samples for tradeshows, contribute to artist blog content, support artist programs, and participate in tradeshow events with required travel.
