About The Position

Gallery Guides help create a welcoming, inclusive and engaging environment for all museum guests. Serving as the first point of contact, gallery guides provide visitors with information about museum programming and its exhibitions while ensuring an enjoyable experience. In addition to enhancing visitors' experiences, Gallery Guides work closely with the security team to help protect the museum, its staff and visitors from potential risks, including fire, theft, and accidents. Flexibility is needed, including availability for weekend, evening, and holiday shifts.

Requirements

  • Experience interacting with guests in educational, museum, gallery or similar settings desirable.
  • 1 year of Customer Service and cash handling experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and resolve complaints with tact and courtesy.
  • Ability to assess and communicate complex situations to senior staff.
  • Ability to represent the museum with integrity and professionalism.
  • Availability to work day, evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
