The Gallery Director (Part-time) at The University of Tulsa is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Hogue Gallery during the academic year. This role involves coordinating exhibitions, managing artist communications, and assisting with budget management, while also serving as the main point of contact for gallery activities.

  • Serve as main point of contact for the Hogue Gallery
  • Communicate with artists to coordinate exhibition layout, supplies, shipping, travel, etc.
  • Assist the Director of the School of Art with writing artist contracts
  • Oversee installation and de-installation of exhibitions, including unpacking and repacking artworks
  • Assist Director with student exhibits off campus
  • Design exhibition layouts
  • Oversee artist submissions for juried exhibitions each year
  • Market exhibitions and gallery programming, including coordination of postcard design and mailing, posters, and social media outreach
  • Coordinate with the Department Assistant to enter gallery events on the university calendar
  • Assist the Director of the School of Art, Design and Art History to manage the gallery budget
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in art or art-related field
  • 2-4 years of previous gallery experience
  • Experience with exhibition design
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of best practices regarding gallery management
  • Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) preferred
