About The Position

The 5th Grade Math Teacher at Shidler Elementary is responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-aligned mathematics instruction that prepares students for success as they transition into middle school. This teacher creates engaging lessons that develop students’ conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving skills while ensuring mastery of grade-level standards. The 5th Grade Math Teacher uses data to drive instruction, responds strategically to student needs, and works collaboratively with grade-level and content teams to strengthen instructional practice. The teacher will implement the Santa Fe South math framework with fidelity while contributing to a classroom culture that promotes perseverance, academic confidence, and a love of learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid Oklahoma teaching certification (or willingness/eligibility to obtain certification)

  • Experience teaching upper elementary mathematics
  • Experience using student data to inform instructional decisions
  • Familiarity with standards-aligned math curriculum and instructional practices

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality mathematics instruction aligned to Oklahoma Academic Standards and the SFS math framework.
  • Internalize and execute engaging, bell-to-bell lessons that promote conceptual understanding, problem solving, and mathematical discourse.
  • Use student data—including formative assessments and NWEA MAP Growth—to monitor progress, identify learning gaps, and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Build students’ confidence and perseverance in mathematics through structured practice, discussion, and strategic questioning.
  • Maintain consistent classroom systems, routines, and expectations that support a focused, safe, and productive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with grade-level and content teams to refine lesson plans, analyze student work, and strengthen instructional practices.
  • Engage fully in coaching cycles, lesson internalization, and professional learning aligned to Santa Fe South’s commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with students and families, including participation in student data conversations and family engagement efforts.
  • Contribute positively to a strong school culture grounded in high expectations, teamwork, and mutual accountability.
