About The Position

The G.I. Endoscopy Technician, Advanced allows individuals the opportunity for on the job education and training to broaden their knowledge of gastroenterology. This individual works under supervision, to assist with patient care in the Endoscopy procedure room by performance of technical and other delegated duties. The individual will assist with therapeutic procedures, complete reprocessing of procedural instruments, supplies maintenance and room set up and tear down and is actively involved with training peers. Technical duties include assistance with complex Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and interventional endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) procedures. The G.I. Endoscopy Technician, Advanced will complete educational training and exams and will be assigned a designated mentor(s) to develop skills necessary to perform the G.I. Endoscopy Technician (Advanced) essential functions within the scope of the role. This individual performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health Systems’ (MCHS) mission, policies and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

Requirements

  • Six months experience in Advanced GI Role obtained on the job or prior to hire.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with gastroenterology terminology.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with completion of non-complex therapeutic procedures, advanced GI procedures and reprocessing procedures related to gastroenterology.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate or diploma in a medical related field.
  • Gastroenterology experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient care in the Endoscopy procedure room.
  • Perform technical and delegated duties under supervision.
  • Assist with therapeutic procedures.
  • Complete reprocessing of procedural instruments.
  • Maintain supplies and set up/tear down rooms.
  • Train peers in the Endoscopy procedures.
  • Assist with complex ERCP and EUS procedures.

  • Level 2 benefit package for positions listed as 20 – 29 hours per week.
  • Non-benefited for positions listed as less than 19 hours per week.
