The FWS Soundbooth Technician is a vital role within the Music Department at Pacific University, specifically located in the McCready Hall Tech Booth. This position is exclusively available to current students of Pacific University and is designed to support the various concerts, recitals, and musical events organized by the department. The technician will work closely with Dr. Francis and the Student Supervisor to assess the specific needs for each event, ensuring that all technical aspects are handled efficiently and effectively. The primary responsibilities include setting up, operating, and maintaining sound and lighting equipment. This encompasses a range of tasks such as managing wired and wireless microphones, lavalier microphones, projectors, lightboards, and soundboards. The technician will be responsible for creating and executing lighting looks using the lightboard, as well as mixing and monitoring audio levels through the soundboard. This includes setting up external audio sources, such as backing tracks, from laptops or other devices. The role requires a flexible schedule, particularly for evening events on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as Sunday afternoons, to accommodate the Music Department's programming. In addition to technical skills, the position emphasizes the importance of analytical and critical thinking, applied problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership. Previous experience in operating sound and lighting equipment in musical or theatrical settings is essential for success in this role.
