The First Vice President of Core Services is a critical leadership role responsible for defining and executing multi-product cloud architectures, strategic roadmaps, and engineering best practices that drive efficiency, security, and scalability across the organization. This leader will build, standardize, and evangelize cloud engineering solutions, ensuring they are leveraged across multiple product teams to enhance reliability, automation, and developer efficiency. This role will oversee AWS cloud infrastructure, engineering platforms, and core services while managing a team of cloud engineers. The VP will work closely with infrastructure, security, DevOps, and development teams to solve complex architectural challenges, establish best-in-class engineering practices, and drive technical excellence across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in AWS multi-account architectures, security, networking, automation, and cost governance, along with the ability to develop and execute long-term technology strategies that align with business objectives.

  • Lead and manage a highly skilled cloud engineering team, providing technical direction, career development, and mentorship.
  • Drive the execution of strategic cloud initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals, security requirements, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across infrastructure, security, development, and DevOps teams to ensure a seamless cloud engineering strategy.
  • Develop succinct, clear, and data-driven presentations for senior leadership, outlining execution plans, progress updates, and investment strategies.
  • Define and implement best practices for multi-account AWS architecture, ensuring cost optimization, security compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee AWS cloud governance, automation, tools, and shared services across the enterprise, managing key areas including Cloud Account Governance & Security, Identity & Access Management (IAM) Transformation, Cloud Infrastructure Optimization & Scalability, Enterprise Code & Automation Standardization, Multi-Cloud Expansion & Connectivity, End-of-Life (EOL) Infrastructure & Technical Debt Management, Testing & Quality Assurance Optimization.
  • Ensure the seamless integration, security, and performance of these cloud engineering platforms, driving operational excellence and innovation.
  • 10+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with at least 5+ years managing technical teams.
  • Deep expertise in AWS, including multi-account management, security, networking, and financial oversight.
  • Proven experience in re-architecting AWS implementations, optimizing cloud spend, and driving vendor management & investment strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK, Stacker), automation tools (Chef, Jenkins), and DevOps best practices.
  • Experience leading large-scale cloud migrations, governance models, and automation frameworks.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional) or equivalent certification.
  • Strong people management skills, with experience leading distributed and diverse engineering teams.

  • Clear and concise communication skills, capable of presenting complex cloud strategies to executive leadership.

  • Ground in compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, etc.).
