Anticipated start date: TBD Supervisor: Head of the Lower School Position Status: This position is a salaried, exempt, full-time, regular, 10-month position.
Requirements
- Teaching experience at the elementary level; advanced degree preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of: Constructivist theory and practice Integrated studies Responsive Classroom Readers and Writer’s Workshop Math in Focus/Singapore Math Learning targets and assessments
- In addition to experience and a strong educational background, successful candidates demonstrate a love of working with children, an engaging teaching style, the ability to interact well with parents and colleagues, and a willingness to create and promote an inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Partnering with another lead teacher in the classroom
- Creating differentiated learning experiences aligned with assessments
- Teaching an intentional social and emotional learning curriculum
- Contributing to interdisciplinary curriculum design and student support strategies
- Participating in the Lower School PLC (Professional Learning Community)
- Ensuring student safety by supervising recess, lunch, and transitions
- Providing feedback on and evaluation of students for Admissions
- Attending scheduled committee and faculty meetings, both during and after-school
- Contributing to the larger school community through coaching or sponsoring
