About The Position

This position involves working as a Further Production Technician on a moving conveyor belt. Key responsibilities include spreading or styling product by hand, performing various types of packing and weighing, pulling bones from products, and inspecting, grading, and removing products that do not meet quality standards. The role requires active participation as a team member, contributing to the development and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies, and coordinating work to ensure best practices. The technician is expected to be familiar with Simmons' established operating systems, including quality, security, office environment, company policies, and LEAN, and to understand their role in supporting these systems. The position also entails identifying and resolving issues within the team and performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives. The work environment is physically demanding, involving repetitive motion in cold, wet, noisy, and dusty conditions, and may include rotating through different temperature zones within the plant.

Requirements

  • Must be able to move, push or pull up to 55 pounds from table to scales at waist level
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, walk, stand and work in a cold, wet, noisy, dusty environment for entire shift
  • This position involves repetitive motion and may include rotating through cold and hot areas of the plant
  • Use of standard waterproof gloves, sleeves, hearing protection, slip resistant footwear

Responsibilities

  • Works on a moving conveyor belt using both hands

  • Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies
  • Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members
  • Attends appropriate team meetings
  • Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization
  • Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN)
  • Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives
