About The Position

The Furniture Repair Technician III position at Wayfair involves working independently to evaluate and repair damaged furniture items, ensuring they are in perfect condition for delivery. This role is crucial in maintaining high delivery standards and customer satisfaction by executing repairs efficiently and accurately. The technician will also contribute to team discussions and training material development, emphasizing collaboration and quality in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• At least 5+ years prior experience in furniture repair/construction.
• Advanced understanding of repairing wood items, including color and stain matching.
• Ability to use power and hand tools as needed.
• Advanced understanding of repairing upholstery and multiple fabric types is a plus.
• High attention to detail and prioritization of quality in repairs.
• Comfortable lifting up to 75 lbs. unassisted and moving products over 150 lbs. with assistance.
• Ability to work on the warehouse floor for 8 hours or more.
• Strong work ethic and effective time management skills.
• Comfort with scanning technology.
• Ability to read and comprehend English for safety purposes.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Certification in Furniture Repair/Restoration is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate damages and defects of furniture items to determine repairability.
• Make necessary adjustments to items before delivery to ensure they are in perfect condition.
• Prioritize and execute daily, weekly, and monthly repair tasks effectively.
• Accurately report outcomes of work in progress, completed, and past due work.
• Monitor inventory and order replacement parts as needed.
• Administer appropriate repair methods for various product types, including wood and upholstery repairs.
• Refinish and patch damaged furniture using appropriate materials and techniques.
• Repair, replace, and rebuild damaged furniture or mechanical parts as required.
• Operate tools such as power drills, sanders, and saws for repairs.
• Document pertinent information using scan technology and provide input for tool improvements.
• Contribute to team discussions and training material development.
