About The Position

The Furniture Gallery Captain is an elevated hourly colleague at Macy's who plays a crucial role in supporting sales, administrative functions, and customer service within the Big Ticket department, which includes Furniture, Mattresses, and Rugs. This position is designed to enhance the customer experience through Active Supervision and to foster a positive service culture within the Furniture Gallery. The Furniture Gallery Captain will prioritize customer interactions, ensuring that every customer experience is optimal by providing fast feedback and role modeling excellent service behaviors. In this role, you will be responsible for communicating expectations and priorities to colleagues, creating an engaging environment for both customers and team members. You will also coordinate various administrative functions, including the hiring process, and assist the Store Manager/People Leader in managing workload and projects. The position requires a proactive approach to customer service, with the ability to resolve issues effectively and manage customer and colleague flow to meet business needs. As a Furniture Gallery Captain, you will participate in daily leadership activities, assist with store opening and closing procedures, and manage incoming communications. You will also balance the store checkbook and perform cash functions, act as a tech liaison, and educate colleagues on store systems. This position is a stepping stone to higher roles such as Sales and Customer Experience Manager or Operations and Visual Merchandising Manager, making it an excellent opportunity for career advancement within Macy's.
