About The Position
Sibanye-Stillwater is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Furnace Operator to support metal melting operations within the Thermal Destruction Department. This hands-on role focuses on operating and monitoring furnaces used to melt non-ferrous metals while ensuring all production, quality, and safety standards are consistently met in a high-temperature industrial environment. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Basic arithmetic skills
- Team oriented with strong communication skills
- Proven commitment to safety and adherence to operating procedures
- Reliable transportation required due to limited public transportation access
- Must meet ITAR and NAID eligibility requirements
- Ability to pass background screening and pre-employment drug testing
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in furnace, foundry, or metal processing operations preferred
Responsibilities
- Operate induction, gas, or electric furnaces to melt non-ferrous metals
- Monitor metal temperatures and visual indicators to achieve specified melting conditions
- Safely pour molten metal into molds or ingots and prepare samples for laboratory analysis
- Accurately record production data and enter information into tracking systems
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with procedures
- Observe equipment during operation to identify irregularities or malfunctions
- Follow production schedules and meet operational and quality targets
- Submit maintenance requests and assist with minor repairs as needed
