The Funeral Services Assistant plays a vital role in supporting funeral operations by providing clerical and administrative assistance. This position involves interacting with the public, answering inquiries about funeral and cremation services, and assisting with various tasks related to memorial services. The role requires adherence to company policies and a commitment to the mission of supporting families during difficult times.

  • Provide clerical and administrative assistance to support funeral operations.
  • Meet the general public and answer questions regarding funeral and cremation information.
  • Answer phones courteously and provide information as needed.
  • Assist with funeral, memorial, and other services as requested by clients and management.
  • Prepare for services by delivering and setting up floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, and personal keepsakes.
  • Ensure proper care and storage of items related to services.
  • Prepare documents related to services and cremations as directed by management.
  • Assist with the respectful preparation of remains, including dressing and lifting, as permitted by law.
  • Perform office duties such as operating phones, fax machines, and computers.
  • Run errands for floral delivery and supply pickups.
  • Serve as an usher and assist with transportation requirements.
  • Drive Funeral Home vehicles for services and family pickups.
  • Ensure refreshments are available during services where allowed by law.
  • Assist with visitations and memorial services, including setup and dressing of remains.
  • Greet and receive client families and provide assistance as needed.
  • Accommodate the needs of families during services and visitations.
  • Wash and clean funeral home vehicles and other client vehicles as required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with clients and families.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and professionalism.
  • Basic clerical skills, including phone and computer operation.
  • Ability to lift and handle deceased remains as permitted by law.
  • Valid driver's license to operate funeral home vehicles.
  • Previous experience in a funeral home or related field.
  • Knowledge of funeral and cremation services.
  • Bilingual skills to assist a diverse clientele.
