The Funeral Director compassionately facilitates funeral arrangement discussions with the deceased's next of kin and presides over visitation, funeral, and graveside services in accordance with family’s wishes, company expectations, and local, state, or federal laws. This licensed role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all mortuary, health, and vital statistics regulations within the funeral establishment(s). The position involves a variety of tasks from initial contact with families, conducting arrangement conferences, directing services, to event planning and administrative duties. New associates will work under general guidance, learning to apply their licensure to the business environment while complying with regulations, policies, and procedures. Work may be peer-reviewed for accuracy and quality, and collaboration with peers or managers for assistance and guidance is expected. The role requires accountability for behaviors and proactive communication regarding workload and deadlines.
