About The Position

As a licensed Funeral Director, you will compassionately facilitate funeral arrangement discussions with the deceased's next of kin and preside over visitation, funeral, and graveside services in accordance with family wishes, company expectations, and local, state, or federal laws. You may also perform embalming responsibilities and ensure compliance with all mortuary, health, and vital statistics regulations within the funeral establishment. Your role will involve receiving or initiating calls to the deceased's next of kin, obtaining or confirming contact information, discussing needs, scheduling appointments, and caring for the deceased respectfully. You will also be responsible for directing services, confirming arrangements, and presiding as Master of Ceremonies for services. Additionally, you will perform event planning responsibilities, including resource planning and ordering necessary items for services, and may represent the company at community or charity events.

Requirements

• Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science.
• Current Funeral Director and Embalmer dual license within the practicing state.
• Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates funeral arrangement discussions with deceased next of kin.
• Presides over visitation, funeral, and graveside services.
• Ensures compliance with mortuary, health, and vital statistics regulations.
• Receives or initiates calls to deceased next of kin and schedules appointments.
• Cares for deceased in a respectful manner and updates removal status in proprietary software.
• Confirms authorization to proceed with service arrangements.
• Acts as Master of Ceremonies for services.
• Visually inspects deceased and services arrangements.
• Performs event planning responsibilities including resource planning and ordering.
• Cleans and prepares event rooms before and after services.
• Performs embalming duties following company processes and procedures.
• Maintains preparation room and inventories supplies.
