The Funeral Director/Embalmer compassionately facilitates funeral arrangement discussions with the deceased's next of kin and presides over visitation, funeral, and graveside services in accordance with family wishes, company expectations, and legal regulations. This role may also involve Embalming responsibilities. As a licensed Funeral Director, the individual is responsible for ensuring compliance with all mortuary, health, and vital statistics regulations within the funeral establishment(s). Key duties include initiating and facilitating arrangement conferences, discussing available benefits, promoting services and merchandise, and reviewing/authorizing contract revisions. The role also involves directing services as the Master of Ceremonies, ensuring all arrangements align with contractual agreements and family expectations, and interacting with families to fulfill death care requests while also generating leads for pre-need services. Event planning responsibilities include resource planning, ordering items like music and flowers, producing memorial products, and preparing/cleaning event rooms. The position may also involve attendant duties such as parking, driving, ushering, pallbearing, or courier services, and representing the location at community events. When performing embalming, the associate cares for the deceased respectfully, verifies identification, cleans and embalms the body following company procedures, performs restorations, styles hair, applies cosmetics, dresses the body, and maintains the preparation room, including hazardous waste disposal and supply management. The role operates under general guidance, with new associates learning to apply licensure to the business environment and collaborating with peers or managers for assistance. It requires accountability, compliance with regulations, initiative, and adaptability.
