About The Position

The Funeral and Cemetery Support position is responsible for greeting the public both in person and on the telephone, ensuring a professional and pleasant experience to create a positive first impression. The role involves performing various clerical tasks essential for the efficient operation of the office and ensuring that all graveside services are conducted within established guidelines set by Fairmount Memorial Association/Fairmount Holdings, Inc. Each family is to receive exquisite service that is second to none.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in customer service.
  • Experience in the funeral/cemetery profession preferred.
  • Valid state driver’s license with insurable driving history.
  • Ability to function and excel in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Cooperative, team player, detail-oriented, and adaptable to change.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Commitment to customer service and quality.
  • Efficient and dependable; punctual.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

  • Answers and forwards incoming calls.
  • Greets clients and visitors.
  • Assists others within the organization of Fairmount.
  • Maintains a professional appearance in conservative business attire.
  • Responsible for being at the cemetery a minimum of one hour in advance of the service.
  • Checks in with Family Service Representative for any special requests desired by the family.
  • Communicates any necessary changes/corrections to the service setup crew or foreman as needed.
  • Provides cemetery amenities such as tissues, water, and flower seeds as assigned.
  • Greets service/event attendees no later than 30 minutes prior to service/event.
  • Responsible for the setup and operation of sound equipment and music/video system prior to and during the service.
  • Coordinates with officiating person regarding the music to be played.
  • Coordinates with the Funeral Director to lead the transition to the graveside for completion of the service.
  • Maintains contact with grounds crew personnel and family service representatives to meet any special needs or additional requests of the families.
  • Responsible for collecting the burial transfer permit from the funeral director prior to the casket being accepted by the cemetery.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions within all cemeteries to the Grounds Superintendent.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
