About The Position

The Fund Development and Volunteer Manager is responsible for supporting the fundraising efforts of the development department to advance the mission of Maggie's Place. This role is key in helping with expanding fundraising strategies, community outreach initiatives, donor and corporate relationships, volunteer engagement and special events. This role ensures sustainable revenue growth to support Maggie's Place mission and programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or comparable combination of education and work experience.
  • Must be able to represent/reflect Maggie's Place in a positive and professional manner to all avenues of the community.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Data driven with strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Raiser's Edge NXT preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and effective organizational, problem-solving, time-management and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and to take initiative.
  • Strong positive interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Solution driven and a strong work ethic.
  • Must be comfortable in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work off-hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Must possess or have regular access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver license and active auto insurance.
  • Must be able to comply and meet the national and state criminal background check, national sex offender registry, level one fingerprint clearance card, and a Motor Vehicle Records check as required by Maggie's Place.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Fundraising and Donor Relations Follow comprehensive fundraising, stewardship and cultivation plans for individual and organizational annual giving established by the VP of Philanthropy and CEO.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors and corporate partners in adherence to the organization's development plan.
  • Participate in donor stewardship and cultivation activities to ensure timely acknowledgment and engagement.
  • Assist with organization's donor database and serve as a backup for entering gifts, running reports and printing acknowledgement correspondence.
  • Research and identify new funding opportunities and collaborate on compelling proposals.
  • Attend and present information about community events around the valley.
  • In-Kind Donations Identify and solicit in-kind contributions such as goods, services, and materials to support programs and social connection events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with individuals and business and community partners for ongoing in-kind support.
  • Track and acknowledge all in-kind donations in compliance with IRS and organizational guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the program team to align in-kind donations with organizational needs.
  • Volunteer Management Recruit, train and retain volunteers to support organizational programs and events.
  • Implement all volunteer policies, procedures and standards set forth by the organization.
  • Assess all volunteer needs and develop a wide range of volunteer opportunities for the organization.
  • Consult with staff to create appropriate volunteer job descriptions and assignments.
  • Act as the main point of contact for communications related to volunteerism.
  • Create and maintain a positive volunteer experience through clear communication and recognition programs.
  • Follow volunteer program budgets, manage expenses and provide ongoing reports to senior management.
  • Adhere to systems for tracking volunteer hours and impact.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with volunteers, ensuring they feel valued, engaged and motivated to contribute.
  • Manage volunteer scheduling and ensure volunteers are appropriately matched to roles and events.
  • Oversee volunteer recognition programs and provide feedback to enhance their experience.
  • Administer all volunteer forms and records.
  • Monitor volunteer performance and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between volunteers and staff to ensure clear communication and successful collaboration.
  • Research and attend volunteer recruitment events.
  • Stay current on best practices, trends and technology in volunteer management and ensure that volunteers work in a safe, healthy and supportive environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, businesses and community leaders to expand volunteer opportunities.
  • Promote volunteerism to the broader community, encouraging participation and engagement.
  • Special Events Work with VP of Philanthropy and CEO to plan, coordinate, and execute special events such as fundraisers, community outreach events, donor engagement and in-house meetings, i.e. Board of directors' meetings.
  • Act as the lead for event components including logistics (venue selection, catering, AV, transportation and entertainment), vendor management, volunteers, guest lists and day-of coordination.
  • Help cultivate relationships with potential sponsors, partners and donors to secure event revenue and in-kind donations.
  • Oversee in-house events by coordinating with staff, volunteers and vendors.
  • Set up and break down all in-house meetings and events.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers for all events.
  • Help negotiate contracts with vendors, venues and suppliers to achieve cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality standards.
  • Recruit and manage community leaders to serve, plan and volunteer at events.
  • Troubleshoot any issues that arise before or during events.
  • Work closely with marketing and communications staff to promote events, maximize participation, and ensure brand consistency and targeted messaging.
  • Develop promotional materials such as invitations, programs and event signage.
  • Manage event registrations, including online systems and track RSVPs.
  • Oversee insurance, permits and licenses needed for events.
  • Ensure that all attendees, donors and sponsors are properly acknowledged, thanked and stewarded at following events.
  • Conduct post-event debriefs to assess the success of the events and identify areas for improvement.
  • Research and identify new event trends and innovative ideas to keep events fresh and engaging.
  • Miscellaneous Perform other duties as assigned, which may be updated as needed.
