About The Position

Dodge & Cox is seeking a fund administration/taxation analyst who will be a core member of our Fund Treasury team. The analyst will primarily support U.S. mutual fund-level tax compliance and reporting, as well as security-level taxation compliance and reporting across all our mutual funds. In addition, the analyst will assist with fund accounting, financial and regulatory reporting, and NAV calculation oversight functions. We seek an individual with a solid understanding of mutual fund taxation and fund accounting. A successful candidate will be a self-motivated problem-solver, with the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Relevant regulated investment company (RIC) tax and/or mutual fund accounting experience
  • Basic understanding of book to tax adjustments common to regulated investment companies and IRC Subchapter M
  • Adept at managing and analyzing investment accounting data and enhancing business processes
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and data management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with people at all levels, both inside and outside the firm
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, flexible, reliable, and proactive
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills

  • Dodge & Cox has a 4/1 hybrid work model, and all Dodge & Cox employees are required to be in their assigned office as noted in the job posting Monday - Thursday each week, with the option to work remotely on Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze tax implications of fund investments and transactions in the highly specialized areas of regulated investment companies (IRC Subchapter M)
  • Review tax provisions, financial statement tax disclosures, federal and state returns, tax reporting to shareholders, and calculation of fund distributions for our U.S. mutual funds; liaise with tax administrators and tax accountants
  • Oversee security-level tax liabilities (e.g., dividend income withholding tax, foreign capital gains tax) for all our mutual funds, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations and associated reporting obligations across markets; prepare documentation to claim tax entitlements; leverage third party tools and resources to collaborate across teams and service providers to assess changes in markets
  • Assist with fund accounting key controls/processes, including review of the Funds’ daily NAV calculations and oversight of custodian/fund accounting agent
  • Assist with fund administration functions including regulatory reporting, financial reporting, annual audit support, board of trustees reporting
  • Proactively identify business process improvement opportunities, including automation and strengthening internal controls
