The Functional Systems Analyst & Trainer is responsible for ensuring effective use, integration, and continuous improvement of the college's administrative systems-most notably the Student Information System (SIS) including Jenzabar-and related tools (CRM, reporting platforms, BI tools). This role combines system analysis and configuration, SQL-based reporting and data analysis, workflow design, and end-user training to support enrollment, financial aid, student services, and academic operations. The analyst will translate business needs into technical requirements, develop and maintain reliable reports and dashboards to inform operational decision-making, implement and optimize system modules and integrations, and design/deliver training and documentation to increase adoption and reduce support load. The position requires strong SQL and data-analysis skills, practical experience delivering training to non-technical audiences, project/change-management capability, and a commitment to data privacy and service-oriented support.

  • Partner with enrollment, financial aid, student services, and academic teams to evaluate business processes.
  • Identify opportunities for system-driven efficiencies within Jenzabar.
  • Serve as liaison between functional departments and IT staff to translate business needs into system requirements.
  • Support the rollout of new system modules and features, including Jenzabar/SIS modules and upgrades.
  • Collaborate with departments to design and implement internal processes that enable effective use of system capabilities, particularly Jenzabar/SIS modules.
  • Guide alignment of institutional (or organizational) practices with system functionality to maximize adoption and impact.
  • Develop custom reports and dashboards from SQL-based databases to meet the needs of academic and administrative departments.
  • Write and maintain SQL queries for reporting, ensuring accuracy and reliability of data outputs.
  • Coordinate with research or analytics teams (e.g., Institutional Research) to align data requests and maintain consistency.
  • Develop training guides, online tutorials, and user documentation specific to systems in use (particularly for Jenzabar/SIS users).
  • Conduct hands-on training sessions for faculty, staff, and students or equivalent end users.
  • Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and guidance for functional users to improve adoption and reduce support needs.
  • Support academic and administrative initiatives by aligning system (SIS) functions with institutional goals.
  • Assist in building dashboards and reports for key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Deliver workshops, short courses, or orientation sessions on the system(s) and related tools (including Jenzabar/SIS).
  • Promote system literacy and best practices among campus stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Education Technology, Business, or related field.
  • Strong SQL skills (e.g. designing, writing, test, debugging, and optimizing complex queries and stored procedures) and experience producing reliable data extracts and reports for stakeholders from SQL- database platforms (e.g. SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle).
  • Proficiency with practical data-analysis skills: extracting and validating data, creating reports and dashboards, and other analytic skills that help in decision making; including ability to export query results for use in reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) or Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering end-user training and documentation (workshops, documentation, and hands-on sessions) to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience handling confidential data and commitment to data privacy compliance (e.g., FERPA awareness where applicable).
  • Experience managing projects or change initiatives (planning, stakeholder management, communications).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical users.
  • Experience supporting or implementing Student Information Systems (SIS) or other enterprise administrative systems; direct Jenzabar experience preferred but not required.
  • Prior role as an SIS functional analyst or experience working in higher education or campus settings (preferred).
  • Knowledge of student records, registration, financial aid, and admissions workflows; awareness of FERPA and data-privacy best practices.
  • Familiarity with institutional research reporting (IPEDS, IR) and KPI/dashboard design.
  • Experience with database platforms such as MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle and advanced SQL techniques (stored procedures, window functions, query optimization).
  • Experience with ETL/data integration or scripting (SSIS, Python, Airflow, or similar).
  • Experience building reports and dashboards using BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent) and exporting query results for use in reporting tools or Excel.
  • Project- or change-management certification (PMP, Prosci, PRINCE2) and/or formal training in instructional design/adult learning (Kirkpatrick Evaluation, Coursera/edX microcredentials in Instructional Design or Learning Experience Design).
  • Salary Range: $61,309-$65,005
  • Office-based role with the possibility of occasional remote work depending on specific tasks and projects.
  • Opportunities to teach and lead workshops or training sessions on a flexible schedule.
