In this position on the Engineering Quality team (EQ), you will support Design Engineers with quality and risk analysis tools and processes to lead Functional Safety Management (ISO 26262), DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Component Specifications, and Designation Safety-Relevant (DS) activities pertaining to series production vehicle development for various vehicle systems. Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, Mechanical (with Electrical focus), Software Engineering and 5-7 years experience is required. Other Engineering disciplines may be considered with relevant EE experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the application of ISO 26262 (Functional Safety)
  • Must be well organized, able to handle multiple, detailed tasks, and work professionally with various levels of DTNA management
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and, oral and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, reliable, and self-motivated
  • Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change

Nice To Haves

  • Functional Safety (ISO 26262) Certification
  • Knowledge of or experience with conducting Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
  • Knowledge of or experience with Component Requirement Specifications (CRS) and Component Implementation Specifications (CIS)
  • Knowledge of or experience with Automotive Software Performance Improvement and Capability Determination (ASPICE) assessments
  • Strong technical proficiency with DTNA products with a focus on electrical engineering

Responsibilities

  • Support the design engineering organization with Functional Safety Management (ISO 26262), DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Component Specifications (CRS and CIS), and Designation Safety-Relevant (DS) processes in conventional diesel, battery electric, hydrogen, and autonomous vehicle projects as assigned
  • Collaborate locally and globally (Germany and India) to evaluate Functional Safety conformance of products and lead Functional Safety engineers (FSEs) to meet an acceptable safety integrity level in their respective design releases
  • Participate in Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARAs) in an expert group with FSEs to derive safety goals and ensure global alignment when applicable
  • Moderate Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DFMEAs) in an expert group with System / Component owners and Test Engineers
  • Assign and track the completion of output actions from DFMEAs before final design release
  • Participate in Fault Tree Analyses (FTAs) in an expert group with System / Component owners and Test Engineers and drive completion of actions from the analysis
  • Help FSEs achieve conformance of all Functional Safety work products: Item Definitions, Safety Plans, Development Interface Agreements, Safety Concepts, and Test Cases
  • Manage Safety Plans to align vehicle test cycle and software release timing at DTNA and suppliers
  • Review Safety Concepts / requirements developed by engineering and ensure completeness of Safety Cases through confirmation reviews along with planning, tracking and monitoring of project related functional safety work packages and milestones in all phases of the safety lifecycle
  • Contribute to improving these processes at DTNA through active collaboration with Engineering and global Quality teams
  • Conduct supplier Safety Case reviews along with FSEs to ensure alignment with Daimler Truck standards
  • Author Component Requirement Specifications related to Quality Engineering topics & chapters
  • Serve as the Engineering Quality Core Team Representative in PAR Visual Management meetings and ensure that all EQ‑related Functional Activity List (FAL) items are delivered on time and with high quality for the relevant project systems and components.
  • Participate in ISO 26262, DFMEA, and Automotive-SPICE audits and assessments of supplier components as needed (some travel may be required)
  • Manage Engineering Quality reporting, KPIs, track open issues and be the quality ambassador in Engineering
