About The Position

In this role you will be responsible for supporting the design of software safety systems. As a Functional Safety Engineer, you will work in a collaborative environment to develop a variety of aspects of electric (EV) and combustion (ICE) commercial vehicles. This includes systems such as powertrain control, high voltage management, and advanced driver assist systems (ADAS).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical, computer, software, systems, or equivalent engineering degree
  • Understanding of control system design and development
  • Able to work across multiple technical disciplines and roles
  • Experience in functional safety or implementation of safety software
  • Experienced with standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or MIL-STD-882E
  • Experience with failure modes and effects (FMEA) analysis or fault tree analysis (FTA)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop safety architecture and requirements for vehicle control systems
  • Perform safety analysis of vehicle control system designs
  • Support and coordinate across multiple disciplines and teams
  • Under close supervision, perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh, as well as general industry, engineering standards and processes.
  • Support senior engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
  • Under close supervision, work on projects of limited complexity in a support role.
  • Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
  • Ability to travel off-site to support engineering projects.
  • Support supervisor, engineers, and other departments to execute job assignments.
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of software to meet various requirements which include: functionality, memory utilization, performance and maintainability.
