About The Position

To be responsible for community liaison and training that play a pivotal role in enhancing community resilience and preparedness in the face of disasters (this position focuses on fostering strong relationships between the organisation and community stakeholders, as well as developing and implementing training programmes to build local capacity for disaster response and recovery)

Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • A three-year national diploma majoring in Disaster Management
  • At least six years’ relevant working experience in a disaster risk management environment, of which three years must be at disaster management officer level
  • A valid Code B driving licence
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office
  • Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost
  • Willingness to be assigned to any geographical fire station in Tshwane
  • Willingness and ability to be on standby and work after hours on weekends and public holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Registration with the Disaster Management Institute of Southern Africa (DMISA) at an Associate level may be an added advantage
  • An undergraduate degree or postgraduate qualification in Disaster Management will be an added advantage
