About The Position

Do you have a passion for working with children and families? Spurwink is looking for compassionate, dedicated individuals who want to empower youth and families by creating strength-based behavior change that will be sustained long after treatment ends. You will receive ongoing training in the Functional Family Therapy (FFT) model as you work with families, youth, their communities, and other key members of their ecology to implement FFT as designed. Extensive research has proven the effectiveness of FFT. You will empower families to address challenging and/or problematic behavior and to help youth aged 10 - 18 make life-transforming changes. The course of FFT treatment is approximately 6 months.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Previous experience in the behavioral health field working with youth and families preferred.
  • Exception Request for Functional Family Therapy Hire approved by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services is required.
  • Must maintain required licensing and certification throughout the duration of employment.
  • All applicants must maintain a current driver's license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Work with families in their own homes.
  • Be flexible to work when families are available to meet.
  • Work independently and contribute to a team trained in the FFT evidenced-based model of treatment.
  • Utilize strong interpersonal, communicational, and clinical skills.
  • Respect cultural diversity and engage families who may not want the service.
  • Adapt and individualize program interventions to utilize family strengths and skills.
  • Establish a mutually respectful relationship with families, empowering them to solve their own problems.
