About The Position

Goldbelt Apex, a part of the Healthcare Technology Transformation Group, is a data-focused company dedicated to process and quality in every aspect. As experts in healthcare IT, Apex is committed to building systems for healthcare organizations to seamlessly communicate and exchange data across different systems and devices. The Functional Capabilities Technician shall conduct basic and applied proteomic and metabolomic research on current and emerging threats at BSL-2, in support of the BD and infectious disease countermeasure mission. The Contractor shall provide expertise in a range of sample preparation techniques, method development and operation of proteomic and metabolomic instrumentation, and the analysis of large datasets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of related experience or a master's degree and 3+ years of related experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance eligibility, with no access to classified information.
  • Enroll in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), if required.
  • Specialized skills may be required, including but not limited to, aerobiology, clinical pathology, electron or confocal microscopy, histopathology, quality assurance, and good laboratory practice.
  • Ability to independently read, understand, and execute techniques, procedures, and plans to meet requirements of quality standards.

Nice To Haves

  • ACTIVE SECRET security clearance is preferred.
  • Ph.D. strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sample preparation on a variety of matrices that may include inactivated cells, tissues, viral particles, biofluids, or other matrices.
  • Develop and perform liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) methods for the detection and characterization of proteins, peptides, metabolites, or other small molecules.
  • Perform SDS-PAGE experiments to separate and assess proteins, nucleic acids, or other biological macromolecules.
  • Develop and perform data analysis workflows including identification and quantification of peptide sequences, proteins, and small molecules.
  • Ensure research methods, standard operating procedures, and data records are maintained at the workplace.
  • Maintain a database inventory of all samples received.
  • Participate in weekly lab meetings and assist in development and design of current and future work.
  • Perform laboratory experiments/protocols directed by Proteomics Branch PI or assigned supervisor(s).
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, standard operating procedures, and manuscripts relating to research efforts.
  • Present posters at scientific conferences which may require work to be performed outside normal business hours.
  • Maintain an orderly laboratory environment in compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct Equipment Inventory Management twice a year.
  • Perform monthly Laboratory Management to include safety functions and chemical/supplies inventory.
  • Coordinate ordering of supplies with division staff.
  • Assist in training new personnel including students and other technicians.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
