About The Position

The Test Technician position at Kawasaki Rail Car involves performing electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications on rail cars at the Yonkers facility and field sites. The role requires the technician to utilize standard hand tools and test equipment, read technical documentation, and conduct various tests on rail car systems. The technician will also interact with customers and support engineering tests as needed.

Requirements

• Previous work experience in the electrical or mechanical testing field.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or associates in engineering preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Proficiency with basic hand tools and multi-meters.
• Familiarity with the English measurement system and willingness to learn the Metric system.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet specific deadlines.
• Flexibility to work any shift and under various conditions.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 40 lbs.
• Comfortable working in a rail yard environment and outdoors in any weather conditions.
• Valid US driver's license.

• Experience with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on rail cars.
• Conduct repairs and modifications as requested by the supervisor.
• Utilize standard hand tools and test equipment for testing procedures.
• Read and interpret piping diagrams, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Perform tests on HVAC, Brakes, Propulsion, Communications systems, and more.
• Fill out all test documentation and reports as required.
• Assist and support the engineering group on various tests.
• Communicate clearly with customers regarding job assignments.
