About the position

The Fully Remote Spaceflight Systems Engineer position at Actalent involves supporting pre-mission planning, analysis, and communication networks for human spaceflight and other missions. The role focuses on ensuring that NASA systems meet mission parameters through systems requirements measurement, validation, and analysis of system capabilities. The engineer will validate and implement solutions to support various crewed and robotic missions operated by NASA and its partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support in the acquisition, maintenance, and protection of resources for space communications systems.
  • Author, review, and extract critical information from technical documentation such as Requirements Documents and Test Plans.
  • Participate in Systems Requirements Reviews and Technical Interchange Meetings.
  • Author and refine operations processes through peer and external reviews.
  • Perform anomaly analysis and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Support NASA human spaceflight objectives at national and international meetings.
  • Resolve usage problems and promote efficient use of NASA resources.
  • Serve as a member and advisor in various working groups to assure mission success.
  • Coordinate across NASA centers and organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's of Science in engineering, math, physics, or related field.
  • Experience with spaceflight communications systems and NASA networks.
  • Ability to perform systems analysis using MATLAB, STK, and Excel.
  • Experience with high reliability systems engineering and requirements tracking.
  • Ability to perform fault isolation and recovery for reported anomalies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with satellite mission operations and spacecraft systems.
  • Direct experience with NASA communications networks such as the Space Network or Deep Space Network.
  • Knowledge of communication systems including digital modulation and signal detection.
