Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Usable, Maintainable and delivered on time. LCE consists of multiple specialty disciplines that influence the design and architecture of Raytheon products. Our LCE resources interface directly with program leadership, technical leadership, and our customers throughout the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. As a new System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include developing and implementing one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs. You will perform MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400). You will be helping the team work across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.

  • Performing System Safety planning, hazard analyses, and design analyses
  • Briefing safety considerations at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
  • Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
  • Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
  • Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
  • Interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering
  • Assisting and attending System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and Customer representatives
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships)
  • Experience with developing, implementing, and/or performing System Safety Program Plans, System Safety Engineering, Safety Assessments, Hazard Analyses or Hazard Tracking
  • Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882
  • Experience with system and software safety implementation in Agile Development environment
  • Experience interfacing with Human Systems Integration showcasing execution of Human Factors Engineering tasking involving MIL-STD-1472
  • Coding experience or the ability to trace electrical wiring diagrams
  • Familiarity with radars, lasers or sensors
