The role is fully remote; however, occasional travel to Reston, VA may be requested for team events or customer meetings. Primary Responsibilities: Develop cloudânative applications: Design, develop and deploy scalable, secure and costâefficient web applications and microâservices using AWS services such as S3, EC2, Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, SQS, SNS and DynamoDB. Draw on AWS best practices to ensure performance, reliability and resilience. Modern frontâend development: Build responsive UIs using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Vue, React, or Angular) and ensure seamless integration with backend APIs. Collaborate with UX designers to deliver accessible, mobileâfriendly experiences. Infrastructure as Code: Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK, CloudFormation and Terraform. Automate environment setup, configuration and deployment pipelines (CI/CD) to support rapid, reliable releases. Serverless and eventâdriven architecture: Orchestrate workflows using Lambda, Step Functions, SQS and SNS to build highly available, loosely coupled services. Implement asynchronous messaging and errorâhandling patterns. APIs & integration: Design and develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs; integrate with thirdâparty systems; follow secure coding practices. Use Python (with frameworks such as FastAPI/Flask) and JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js) for backend services. Security & compliance: Ensure all systems meet HIPAA/FISMA/FedRAMP security requirements. Implement authentication, authorization, encryption and secure data storage. Monitor and remediate vulnerabilities, focusing on healthcare data protection. Testing & quality: Write unit, integration and endâtoâend tests; develop automated testing frameworks; perform code reviews to maintain high code quality. Performance & cost optimization: Monitor application performance and AWS resource usage, proactively tuning for scalability and cost efficiency. Use CloudWatch, XâRay and other observability tools. Collaboration & mentorship: Work closely with architects, product owners and DevOps engineers. Mentor junior developers, participate in sprint planning, and contribute to continuous process improvement. Continuous learning: Stay current on emerging AWS services and web technologies; recommend and implement improvements to enhance system capabilities and developer productivity.
