The Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS) at the University of Massachusetts is looking for exceptional teachers in computer science and informatics to join our growing Teaching Faculty. We encourage applications in all areas of computer science and informatics, but are particularly interested in faculty who can teach courses in introductory CS, math foundations, theoretical CS, software engineering, and HCI. Applicants who are interested in full-time employment should apply via this posting. Applicants who are interested in part-time employment should go to cics.umass.edu and apply via the part-time posting. Full-time teaching faculty have full faculty voting rights and are eligible for benefits. We are looking for individuals with a commitment to teaching, who are willing to work collaboratively with our other faculty in the teaching and tenure tracks to develop and continuously refine our curricula. It is expected that the person holding this position will remain with the college long-term. As part of a public, land-grant institution, CICS is dedicated to "Computing for the Common Good." Given our continually growing and increasingly diverse student body, we encourage applications from women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ community, and individuals with a commitment to mentoring historically marginalized demographics in computer science. Initial appointments will be for 2 years at the rank of Lecturer, though highly qualified candidates may receive consideration for these openings at other ranks (Senior Lecturer or Senior Lecturer II). Lecturers may be promoted to Senior Lecturer or Senior Lecturer II after sufficient time in service, meritorious performance, and promise of continuing professional development and achievement. After four years of full-time equivalent service, teaching faculty are also eligible for a continuous appointment. This is an academic-year appointment with teaching responsibilities for 9 months of the year. Full-time teaching faculty typically teach five courses per year at the undergraduate or graduate level and have service obligations. Opportunities for teaching additional summer courses may be available for additional compensation. While there are no required research-related duties, research activities are highly valued.
