About The Position

As a Store Manager Trainee, you'll train on all aspects of successfully running a store in preparation for running your own store. You'll be involved in supervising day-to-day store activities, ensuring overall store performance, identifying staffing needs, managing schedules and developing operational action plans while mentoring and developing the team. This position is full-time, with an estimated 45 hours per week. The starting wage for a Store Manager Trainee is $28.50 per hour, with an estimated earning potential in the first year of up to $103,500, inclusive of salary and bonuses when applicable. Please note that estimates may vary by location.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to provide and lead others in prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Ability to develop rapport, trust, and open communication with direct reports.
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish goals and guide employee performance.

  • Ability to understand and apply management principles regarding budgeting and expenses.
  • Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment, including electric/manual hand jack and floor scrubber.
  • Ability to stay organized and multi-task in a professional manner.
  • Meets state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the day-to-day operations and performance of the team to provide the highest level of customer service.
  • Understands and communicates the overarching company strategy and core values to create a sense of teamwork among employees.
  • Handles customer concerns and ensures appropriate resolutions.
  • Maintains proper store signage and ensures the quality and freshness of products.
  • Assists in hiring store personnel by reviewing resumes and interviewing candidates.
  • Prepares, manages, and revises weekly schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  • Establishes and communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports.
  • Conducts store meetings and identifies training and development opportunities for direct reports.
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations and recommends personnel for advancement or termination.
  • Achieves store payroll and total loss budgets.
  • Manages cash audits according to company guidelines.
  • Monitors the competitive environment and makes recommendations to maintain a competitive position.
  • Provides product feedback and recommendations regarding inventory.
  • Ensures a safe environment for employees, customers, and vendors by identifying hazards and maintaining equipment.
  • Oversees product merchandising and maintains proper stock levels through ordering.
  • Conducts store inventory counts and reconciliations according to company guidelines.
  • Complies with all established company policies and procedures.
