About The Position

The Full Time Sterile Processing Technician at Advanced Surgery Center of Sarasota is responsible for cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency in the operating room. This role involves coordinating sterilization processes, maintaining equipment, and supporting the surgical team to provide exceptional patient care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Completion of a Sterile Process Certification Program is preferred.
• One to two years' experience as an Instrument Technician in multiple specialties or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and implements AMI standards and other resources for sterilization of instruments and supplies.
• Explains and provides rationale for current sterilization practices.
• Works independently and manages time effectively.
• Coordinates the availability of instruments and supplies for surgical cases.
• Ensures the proper functioning and cleaning of autoclaves and sterilization equipment.
• Maintains adequate supplies for sterilization without waste.
• Documents sterilization processes accurately and completely.
• Facilitates turnover times to enhance operating room efficiency.
• Follows Standard Universal Precautions and ensures a safe environment.
• Assists with infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills.
• Complies with safety guidelines and is responsible for the care of equipment.
• Interacts effectively with patients and staff of diverse backgrounds.
• Attends required training and educational sessions to acquire new skills.
• Maintains certifications such as CPR as required by the center.
