About The Position

The Physical Therapist II position at UVA Health Outpatient Physical and Occupational Therapy Fontaine focuses on providing specialized care in neurologic and lymphedema rehabilitation. The role involves delivering high-quality, evidence-based therapy, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to program development and interdisciplinary care coordination. The ideal candidate will have advanced expertise in treating complex neurologic conditions and will play a key role in enhancing patient outcomes through individualized care and professional development.

Requirements

  • Doctorate or Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Active Physical Therapist license in the state (or eligibility for licensure).
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience, with a focus on neurologic or lymphedema rehabilitation preferred.
  • Certification in lymphedema therapy strongly preferred.
  • Strong commitment to patient-centered care and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and educate peers and students effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations in alignment with professional standards and departmental policies.
  • Develop and implement individualized, skilled intervention plans tailored to patient needs, utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Provide specialized care for patients with neurologic diagnoses, leveraging advanced clinical knowledge to address complex conditions.
  • Deliver lymphedema-focused therapy (if certified), enhancing outcomes for patients with lymphatic system disorders.
  • Actively mentor junior physical therapists, including PT I staff, to foster skill development and ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Serve as a clinical instructor for physical therapy students, promoting professional development and knowledge transfer.
  • Participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and interdisciplinary care planning to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Conduct in-service training and contribute to the professional growth of team members through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Demonstrate leadership potential by assuming supervisory responsibilities and seeking mentorship to enhance leadership skills.
  • Identify and address unmet physical therapy needs within the patient population, advocating for enhanced services and interventions.
