About The Position

A warm, well-traveled family in the Metro Detroit area of MI, is seeking an experienced, flexible nanny to support and care for their one-year-old daughter. The family has a second home in Northern Michigan and travels often, and the nanny is expected to travel. The family is exploring a childcare arrangement that offers flexibility, including the option of a live-in role. This position is ideal for a professional nanny who enjoys variety, travel, and seamlessly integrating into an easygoing household. The child was born prematurely and has adjusted and is developing normally. The ideal candidate will have experience with preemies and will be able to support her needs. The general schedule will be Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 5pm and Fridays from 8am to 12pm. The family is open to an 8:30am start as well.

Requirements

  • Prior experience with preemies
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • U.S. or U.K. passport preferred
  • Pet-Friendly – The family has two dogs (30lb and 50lb) - hypoallergenic
  • Ability to swim
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • CPR/First Aid certified
  • Up-to-date vaccinations for Covid and Flu
  • Advanced education in early childhood development (master’s preferred)
  • Legal to work in the U.S

Responsibilities

  • Always ensuring the safety and well-being of the child
  • Actively engaging the child in age-appropriate play-based learning, music, and cultural exposure
  • Maintain all daily routines, including naps, meal plan/prep, feeding, bathing, diapering, and activity schedules
  • Support developmental milestones through tracking and active participation
  • Work in collaboration with the parents and keep a nanny log
  • Communicate any questions or concerns promptly, ensuring seamless care
  • All child-related housekeeping, laundry, tidying up, organization, and stocking of the child’s room and areas
  • Limit screen time
  • Teach the child a secondary language
  • Create a warm, nurturing environment for the child to thrive
  • Travel plan/prep
  • Pack/unpack and maintain some continuity for the child
  • Travel domestically and internationally
