About The Position

Pasadena City College is hiring a full-time, tenure-track Music Instructor-Director of Bands commencing with the 2025-2026 academic year. The primary responsibilities of this position include directing the Lancer Concert Band and the Lancer Marching Band, which runs concurrently with the Tournament of Roses Honor Band in the late fall as preparations for the Rose Parade performance commence. Starting in 1927, Pasadena City College Bands have toured nationally and internationally and have appeared in all the Tournament of Roses Parades since 1930. The ensembles have collaborated with local and international artists and organizations, appearing in commercials, movies, music videos, the Emmy Awards, and the Shanghai International Band Festival. The Pasadena City College Music Department has a longstanding tradition of excellence, including an impressive and comprehensive curriculum for music majors and non-majors in the areas of classical, jazz, popular, world, commercial production, and music business. The full-time and adjunct faculty includes leading educators, performers, conductors, composers, and scholars who work cooperatively toward student success. Alumni of the PCC music program have successfully pursued careers worldwide in all aspects of the music business and have attended many of the finest institutions of higher education. Complementing the band area, Pasadena City College ensembles are at the forefront of music education among California community colleges. Pasadena City College's over 30 performing ensembles have toured nationally and internationally and have collaborated with local and international arts organizations such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Pasadena City College is a world-class institution respected and supported by its community. Thirty percent of our faculty hold doctoral degrees, many of whom are PCC graduates. Many of our support staff are also graduates of PCC and four-year institutions. The Academic Senate, Classified Senate, and Management Association are active in the effective shared governance process of the college.
