About The Position

The Medical Billing and Collection Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the billing process for patients and clients at Neuro Wellness Centers of America. This position involves managing insurance claims, processing payments, maintaining financial records, and ensuring accurate billing practices within a psychiatric care environment. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while contributing to a positive work atmosphere.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in medical billing and collections.
  • Strong understanding of mental health/psychiatry environment.
  • Knowledge of Medicare and private payer policies.
  • Experience with medical coding, particularly mental health coding.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Certification in Medical Billing Services and/or Medical Coding preferred.

  • Experience with credentialing process and knowledge of insurance contracting.
  • Experience working with mental health patients and professionals.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the billing process for patients and clients.
  • Collect and process payments from patients and insurance companies.
  • Manage insurance claims processing and denials.
  • Maintain organized financial records of patients and clients.
  • Generate reports of payments, claims, debts, and outstanding balances.
  • Invoicing and preparing patient financial statements.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
  • Obtain referrals and authorizations from insurance companies.
  • Follow up on unpaid and denied claims and submit appeals as necessary.
  • Collaborate with patients, insurance companies, and team members to resolve billing inconsistencies.
  • Document control by scanning and faxing documents into patient charts.
  • Provide training support to new and existing staff members.
  • Prepare and present reports to management.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times (HIPAA).
