About The Position

A kind and worldly family located in on the Lower East Side is looking for a full-time nanny for their toddler son to start asap. The general schedule will be Monday through Friday 9am-5pm. There will be some domestic travel, 3-4 times per year. This family loves to use the Montessori method in the home and appreciate play-based and respectful parenting. They are looking for a nanny who is open to learning about this way of parenting if not already familiar.

Requirements

Calm and loving personality
A nanny who follows the child's cues, sets healthy boundaries and encourages him to learn from the world and be curious and adventurous. He is learning how to drink from an open cup and use utensils right now.
Safety conscious and has good judgment (encourage the child to explore but let parents know if there are any injuries or accidents)
These parents are looking for a teammate who will bring ideas to the table and have intellectual conversations about upcoming milestones and developmental stages
Good communicator
Extremely reliable! Both parents work demanding jobs and rely on their nanny to be on time in the morning
Comfortable going up and down stairs and being physically active with toddler; the family is in a 4th floor walkup, so must be okay with carrying 25lb toddler up and down until he is able to do the stairs with assistance
Knowledge of or willingness to learn Montessori method. Ultimately they want someone who sees their child as an individual and treats him with respect

Nice To Haves

Second language would be nice to have but not required

Responsibilities

Full childcare for an active toddler (learning to walk!)
Vegetarian cooking for child (please note the family is okay with nanny bringing meat into the home though they ask any meat be cooked before coming to work)
Child laundry
Child-related tidying up and general help maintaining common areas. There is a weekly housekeeper who does deep cleaning but the nanny must be a team player (unloading dishwasher in the morning if there's time, picking up toys throughout the day, etc.)
