The Art History Program in the Department of Art at CSU Stanislaus invites applications for a full-time lecturer in Art History. We seek applications from outstanding candidates with experience to teach general lower-division Art History courses, as well as upper-division courses in Ancient, Medieval, and Museum Studies. A full-time lecturer in the California State University (CSU) system typically has a workload of 15 Weighted Teaching Units (WTU) per semester, usually translating to 5 courses per semester. The successful candidate will teach in-person lower- and upper division courses. Some limited online teaching of GE courses may be included in the teaching load, but the position is primarily face-to-face and in-person. Lower division courses could include Looking at Art; Art History Survey: Ancient; Art History Survey: Modern; Art Appreciation; Intro to Museum Studies; and depending on expertise, non-European surveys. Available upper-division courses could include, depending on expertise: Art of the Classical; Art of the Medieval; Pre-Colombian Art; Northern Renaissance Art; Colonial Latin American Art; 18th-Century Art; Art, Museums and Society; African Art; Missions of California; and/or Women and Gender in Art History. This position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding. This is an academic year appointment.
