About The Position

A private, conservative couple with a residence in the Monterey area of CA is seeking an experienced, full-time, full-charge Housekeeper to provide 5-star service and cleaning in a large, well-appointed home. This is a long-term position in a traditional household that values discretion, consistency, and efficiency. The home is largely on one level, with approximately 10,000 sq. ft., including two primary suites, four bedrooms, and two guest rooms. Principals require a detail-oriented housekeeper who understands established household systems and respects existing organization. Checklists and a schedule will be provided for each area of the home- the candidate is not expected to clean the entire residence every day- the proper amount of time is allotted for each zone. The main areas are to be kept in a guest-ready state. The general schedule will be Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm. The family is ready to hire as soon as the right candidate is secured. Relocation is being offered, and there will be a two-week trial period to ensure it is the right fit for both parties.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in a luxury estate with fine art and antiques
  • Knowledge of how to care for and clean various surfaces, including wood, stone, and fabrics.
  • Working knowledge of how to operate cleaning equipment
  • Ability to follow instructions and retain information

Responsibilities

  • Full charge cleaning and maintenance of the residence, with strong attention to detail.
  • Deep cleaning on a defined rotation; basement level (approx. 500 sq. ft.) cleaned monthly, including sauna and shower.
  • Execute room-by-room task lists, including mopping, dusting, vacuuming, sinks, toilets, showers, counters, sanitization, and visual resets.
  • Maintain two primary suites, including bed making, four bedrooms, and guest rooms; monitor linens and room readiness.
  • Laundry, ironing, dry cleaning management – family sends out some linens and clothing
  • Follow strict protocols for returning items to their designated locations—no rearranging.
  • Care for wood floors; strong knowledge of proper products and cleaning techniques, while ensuring unfamiliar product labels/instructions are followed
  • Maintain windows and interior glass as needed.
  • Manage silverware and specialty items with care; ask for instructions when uncertain.
  • Inventory management of cleaning supplies and other household consumables
  • Light pet care – feeding, and general oversight
  • Occasional shopping for the household
  • Coordinate with other staff and outside vendors to ensure consistency of household operations
  • Maintain an orderly, methodical workflow – focusing on one task/room at a time until completed
  • Assist with floral arrangements as needed or requested
  • Provide exceptional service to the principals/family, and guests – Entertaining is rare.
