About The Position

Wilson Health is looking for a direct hire General Maintenance Worker for our location in Sidney, Ohio (North Dayton, Ohio) area. The position involves installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipes, and electrical systems in the hospital. The worker will perform various maintenance tasks, including general maintenance, minor carpentry, minor electric, minor plumbing, minor painting, and outdoor groundskeeping.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three months related experience and/or training.
  • Preferred experience in healthcare facilities.
  • Ability to work with power tools, construction tools, and electrical equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and patients.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare environments and related safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipes, and electrical systems.
  • Performs special tasks as assigned, including snow removal and emergency repairs.
  • Conducts building checks and understands the operation of equipment being checked.
  • Performs preventative maintenance according to schedules and quality guidelines.
  • Responds to floor calls in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs patient beds and performs electrical checks on patient equipment.
  • Fills in for switchboard operator during breaks.
  • Presents information and responds to questions from managers, staff, patients, and families.
  • Provides support to projects needing assistance.
  • Demonstrates strong customer service skills and prioritizes patient needs.
  • Communicates effectively and works as part of a team.
  • Uses critical thinking skills to make decisions.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as directed by the Plant Operations Director/Manager.
  • Performs minor carpentry, electric, plumbing, painting, and outdoor groundskeeping tasks.
