About The Position

The primary responsibility of the Floral Designer is to take excellent care of customers by satisfying their needs and exceeding expectations. This role requires a defined level of product knowledge, floral care and handling skills, sales ability, customer relations skills, and cooperation with fellow associates to create an incredible place to work and shop. The Floral Designer will design and fashion live, cut, dried, and artificial floral arrangements for various events such as holidays, anniversaries, weddings, parties, and funerals. Responsibilities include processing, packaging, stocking, and maintaining floral products according to standards, cleaning work areas, providing customer service, unloading stock, and reloading salvage. Associates represent Harris Teeter to customers and the public, and their performance reflects the company's image. Positive customer relations enhance the public's image of Harris Teeter and contribute to customer loyalty and increased sales.

Requirements

• Exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to participate in and complete required training.
• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence in English.
• Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical operations.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.

• Experience in floral design or related field.
• Knowledge of floral care and handling.
• Customer service experience in a retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Initiate interaction with customers on the sales floor and ask questions regarding their shopping needs.
• Provide customers with information needed to meet their taste and meal requirements.
• Follow through on customer requests and ensure high levels of customer service.
• Confer with clients regarding price and type of arrangement desired.
• Plan arrangements according to client requirements and costs.
• Select flora and foliage necessary for arrangements and trim materials.
• Decorate buildings, halls, churches, or other facilities for events.
• Pack and wrap completed arrangements and estimate costs.
• Unload products from trucks and place them in coolers according to standards.
• Operate necessary equipment to prepare and portion products according to standards.
• Ensure all floral products are properly refrigerated and check temperatures.
• Stock and block products according to standards to maximize sales.
• Keep stores clean and comply with health department standards.
• Communicate in English with customers and fellow associates.
• Assist in inventory and price change processes.
• Follow all safety regulations and report accidents or safety hazards.
• Adapt to various situations and adjust to shifting priorities.
• Support and assist fellow associates without complaint.
