About The Position

Wilmington University is seeking a full-time faculty member for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program within the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences. This position is effective immediately and requires a commitment to teaching and providing a student-centered focus in a diverse learning environment. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching core courses, advising students, and supporting program needs while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • A Doctoral Degree in Counselor Education and Supervision or a related doctoral degree with at least one full academic year of experience as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program prior to July 1, 2013.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a mental health counselor (e.g., NCC, LPCMH).
  • At least two years of relevant professional experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, student service, and organizational skills.
  • Verifiable expertise in counseling, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disorders.
  • Experience in supervising and training student counselors.
  • Experience in administration, preferably in a CACREP program.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work with a diverse population.
  • Self-directed and able to make decisions independently.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office products, preferably with knowledge of Canvas and Banner.
  • Commitment to teaching and providing a student-centered focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a full-time faculty member in a graduate counseling program.
  • Administrative experience in a CACREP program.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a full-time faculty member to teach and provide appropriate support for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) Program.
  • Provide instruction in common core courses across the program and related courses depending on background and experience.
  • Assist the CMHC Chair with program support, including advising students and assisting with cohort selection.
  • Teach the equivalent of ten courses per year, with potential adjustments based on additional responsibilities.
  • Advise and assist students with scheduling and handle student issues or complaints according to university policy.
  • Attend College and University functions as required.
  • Complete and report on outcomes assessment data and other college reports as assigned.
  • Adhere to the guidelines of the ACA code of ethics and assist students in their development as ethical professional counselors.
  • Promote and foster an inclusive and diverse environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
  • Perform other work or responsibilities that support the institution's mission and vision as directed by the Dean.
