The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member for the Interior Design Department within the School of Art and Design. This position is designed for an individual with expertise in Design Technology and Visual Representation courses. The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced and innovative design professional who is actively engaged in all phases of interior and architectural design practice. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching courses in the Design Technology and Visual Representation sequences, demonstrating excellence in teaching, scholarly work, and professional practice. The successful candidate will effectively communicate with students, guiding them to achieve their educational goals while contributing to the department, school, and college beyond the classroom through curriculum development and committee service. Candidates must have a compelling track record of professional accomplishments in interior design, including published peer-reviewed research and/or exhibited creative scholarship in juried exhibitions, publications, and competitions. The faculty member is expected to pursue continuing education and professional development to maintain and expand their academic research and professional artistic explorations. Specific competencies sought for this position include a strong understanding of globalism in interior design education, instructional design that incorporates professional practices, and learning enrichment that fosters critical thinking and creativity. The candidate should also demonstrate professionalism by maintaining active engagement in the interior design industry and contributing to the department's future direction. Additionally, the faculty member will utilize technology effectively in the classroom and stay current with emerging technologies in the interior design industry.
