The Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member who is a business-driven professional with demonstrated leadership in the fashion and retail sectors. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses across the program's five key pillars: leadership, product, merchandising, planning/analytics, and strategy. Candidates should demonstrate a strong background in fashion business management and be able to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the field's principles, strategies, and practices. The successful candidate will be well-versed in current industry advancements and emerging trends, with a passion for empowering students to succeed academically and professionally while also embracing academic scholarship. The primary responsibility will be teaching, including delivering engaging lectures that promote active learning and foster critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving. Additional responsibilities include developing and enhancing curriculum in areas such as fashion analytics, planning and digital technology, merchandising strategies, brand development, and product development. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advising students and identifying opportunities through mentoring, internships, seminars, and industry events, while also cultivating strategic partnerships with industry leaders and other academic institutions. The successful candidate will play an integral role in planning and implementing the school and department's strategic goals to bring innovative learning experiences into the classroom. The new faculty member will also serve on department, school, and college-wide committees, support accreditation, and participate in administrative duties and special projects as required. Incorporate instructional methods to service all students. Learning Enrichment Inspire student's interest, curiosity, creativity, and love of learning. Use various instructional methods to foster critical thinking, design thinking, creative problem-solving and team-building skills. Integrate interdisciplinary learning into the curriculum. Stay current with industry trends and technology, incorporating them into the curriculum. Embrace new pedagogical forms, including online teaching, blended classes, workshops, flipped classrooms, and experiential learning. Support all student learning styles and abilities. Professionalism Engage in industry-related activities to enhance the discipline. Participate in relevant fashion business conferences. Maintain a network of alumni and industry experts for internships, mentors, curriculum development, guest speaking, and graduate placement. Stay current and engaged in the primary teaching discipline. Model professional behavior to prepare students for related industry fields. Technology Utilize course management systems and multimedia technology in the classroom. Demonstrate effective use of industry-specific technology and data for teaching, including buying, planning, product management software, and data analytics technology. Use appropriate technology to communicate with and engage students outside the classroom.
