About The Position

Mount Wachusett Community College seeks an educator who believes that engaging and authentic teaching matters more than anything else in the pursuit of student success. This Nursing faculty member will teach various courses in the department, including Fundamentals, Pediatrics/Maternity and/or other nursing courses based on faculty expertise and departmental needs. The faculty should be committed to using active learning strategies and student engagement. The faculty member will possess excellent writing and communication skills, academic credentials, technological proficiency, and the expertise to provide students in the program with the nursing skills needed for future academic and career opportunities. This faculty member will teach at the Gardner, Leominster as well as online.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree with a Master's degree in Nursing and a Massachusetts RN license in good standing at time of hire and throughout employment.
• Five years of full-time experience in nursing, or its equivalent within the last five years.
• 2 years college level classroom or clinical teaching experience.
• Evidence of clinical competence in the area of assigned clinical instruction.
• Clinical or classroom experience in simulation laboratory teaching.
• Proficiency in oral and written and electronic communication.
• Ability to teach all levels of nursing.

Responsibilities

• Teaches courses at all instructional locations as assigned by the Dean.
• Engages in effective advisement and student support services for approximately 18 students by providing strategies that assist the students to meet their academic goals.
• Participates in team-based theory preparation utilizing a wide variety of teaching methodologies including informational technologies (Blackboard, ATI, and EHR) and active learning strategies for the integrated classroom for the ADN students.
• Applies NCLEX-RN test plan throughout curriculum and test writing.
• Designs well-developed content exams using the NCLEX and Next Gen format including exam blueprinting and analysis.
• Assists in data collection and analysis and evaluation of program and course student learning outcomes to guide ongoing curriculum development.
• Works effectively as part of the overall department demonstrating positive interpersonal relationships, communication skills, and collaboration with other faculty members and clinical site staff to meet departmental and student needs.
• Contributes to the development of student recruitment and admissions, and evaluates student program progression, retention and graduation completion rates.
• Creates clinical learning activities and supervises and evaluates students in practice learning environments based on program and course student learning outcomes.
• Assures safe nursing care is provided for individuals or groups of individuals in clinical, laboratory or community settings.
• Creates college laboratory learning experiences, to include hi and low-fidelity simulation, for student demonstration and evaluation of clinical nursing skills and student learning outcomes.
• Fully participates in all components for BORN compliance/approval and ACEN accreditation including the Department of Nursing Systematic Evaluation Plan (SEP).
• Actively participates in college governance and Department of Nursing committees per MCCC contract.
• Maintains office hours per MCCC contract.
• Maintains expertise in area of clinical specialization with ongoing professional development and/or fieldwork.
• Maintains faculty requirements at all times and provides faculty file updates to Nursing Department and Human Resource Department annually.
• Additional duties as required by the college.
