About The Position

The Cohasset Police Department has recently withdrawn from the Massachusetts Civil Service system and is actively seeking Entry Level candidates interested in serving the Cohasset community. Requirements

Be a U.S. Citizen (Birth or naturalization)
Be at least 21 years old upon appointment to the Police Academy
Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Massachusetts Driver's License
Have the ability to obtain a Massachusetts Class A License to Carry a firearm (LTC-A) at the time of hire
Possess a minimum of Associate's Degree or equivalent credits when enrolled in a Bachelor's program from an accredited college/university, or Possess a High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent and have achieved Veteran's status with the United Armed Forces as defined by M.G.L.
Can not be a convicted felon or have convictions from another jurisdiction that would be treated as a felony in the Commonwealth
Must pass a thorough background investigation prior to employment
Must have to ability to successfully complete a FT MPTC Police Academy, or equivalent, and become MA POST Certified
Must pass physical fitness test, medical and psychological examination, and a drug screen/test
Not smoke and stay a non-smoker. Smoking tobacco is prohibited as outlined in M.G.L. Chapter 41, Section 101A
Must achieve 70%+ on the getbadged Entry Exam
